Realistic Fire

In order to get a realistic fire effect, create a new document, and set the background color to black and then select a small brush.

example

Create a new layer and draw a white horizontal line. After this all you have to do is to select the Smudge Tool with a round, hard brush, as large as about 19 pixels. With this you're going to create the flame shapes out of that line.

Next go to Image > Adjustments > Hue / Saturation (Ctrl + U), make sure the Colorize box is checked and set the hue to about 38 and Saturation to 60. After setting those lower the Lightness value until you obtain a orange shade.

Dublicate the fire layer and set the new one's Blend Mode to either Color Burn, Vivid Light, Overlay, Color Dodge or Linear Burn. It's really just about how you want your fire to look.
That would be all!
