Description:

Recovery of accidentally deleted Active Directory objects and rolling back unauthorized changes to users, groups, and other information in Active Directory is a routine and sometimes impossible to do task. Rolling back accidental deletions of users and OUs requires deep understanding of AD architecture and tombstone, with results still not guaranteed (e.g., can't recover user group membership, enabled/disabled status, remote access settings, etc). Built-in and 3rd party backup-and-restore utilities in many cases require Directory Services restore mode with domain controller downtime, but without granular object-level restore functionality.

NetWrix Active Directory Object Restore Wizard is a free tool to assist with recovery of accidentally deleted Active Directory users, OUs, groups, and any other objects. The product uses AD tombstone and also it's own backup storage for additional fine-grained recovery of modified AD attributes and recovery of attributes lost in tombstone (e.g. account options, group memerships, home directory, and many other attributes).
