Although the application doesn't say exactly what gases are pumped inside the box, it does give you the option to pump heavy species or light species gases. The heavy gas molecules are represented by big blue bubbles and the lighter gas is represented by red, smaller bubbles. By default the box (container) is sealed. When you activate the pump by dragging and dropping, gas molecules will be added to the container. There are two on-screen meters that show temperature and pressure of the container. As you add gas to the container, pressure increases. If you add heat to the environment, both temperature and pressure will raise. You can use certain tools to obtain a little more information about what is going on inside the box. There is a ruler, a species information pop-up, energy histograms and a stopwatch. Interestingly, the gas molecules collide with each other, causing friction, and that increases temperature and pressure. You can add gravity to the mix to change molecule behavior. In short, Gas Properties allows you to make little experiments that illustrate a variety of concepts, from the comfort of your computer chair.
