The Clockwork Man is an interesting hidden-object game developed by Total Eclipse Games. This game will transport us to London of the late 19th century through really amazingly hand-drawn scenarios and a really interesting story. Miss Miranda Calomy, the main character and an engineering student is requested by her grandfather Cornelius, a recognized scientist, to help him with his work in South America, so she urgently departs in company with her assistant Sprocket, a particular robot. The Clockwork Man is a hidden-object game with quite a cool touch of originality that makes it stand out from the crowd of similar games: it has zooming and scrolling scenes. As you may imagine, this option enlarges the searching area thus making the task of finding objects more entertaining. In fact, we are able to control zoom (unfortunately this option is only available for some specific scene areas) and scroll in several ways: by clicking on the arrows placed on the center of the lower panel, by moving the mouse while holding the left button, by using the mouse wheel or with the cursor keys of our keyboard. As for everything else, the gameplay is very simple and easy: we will realize there is no time limit nor maximum number of hints, provided we have the patience to wait for them to get loaded. As we go through the game the robot will get some improvements which will permit it to vary the kinds of hints it provides, like showing an object's silhouette, or giving us the possibility to select the exact item we want to be revealed. There are four of such improvements, or upgrades, in total. The Clockwork Man also includes really good dialogs, its music is suitable (it somewhat goes unnoticed), and sound effects are really well done and heard at the right moments. To sum up, we are before a game that really aims to deliver high quality, and I think all fans of hidden-object games will love it.
